National Rifle Association endorses State Rep. Matthew Hill in 7th District State House Primary

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — The National Rifle Association (NRA) today announced it has endorsed State Rep. Matthew Hill, R-Jonesborough, in the Republican primary for the Tennessee 7th District State House race on Aug. 6, 2020.

Hill has been a strong defender of the second amendment rights for all law abiding Tennesseans throughout his 16 years of service in our General Assembly.

In 2020, he supported House Bill 2817, which upholds the freedoms granted to law-abiding citizens under our Constitution by allowing open or concealed carry for citizens 21 and older (18 if certain military service requirements are met) without a permit.

At the same time, House Bill 2817 sends a strong “tough on gun crime” message to violent criminals, felons, and gang members through a series of sentencing enhancements that support our law enforcement and judicial communities as they work to protect our cities and towns.

“I am proud to stand with all law abiding citizens and to always defend their right to bear arms which is enshrined in our nation’s founding documents,” said Rep. Hill. “I appreciate the NRA’s support as I seek re-election in 2020, and I will always fight to preserve our freedoms and liberties.”
