(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) and local leaders today announced $425,000 in Local Parks & Recreation Fund grants have been awarded to Fentress County by the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation (TDEC).
Specifically, the City of Jamestown will receive $200,000 to renovate the existing city pool and add a new pool with a zero entry design and splash pad components. The city will match the grant funding to complete the $400,000 project.
Additionally, Fentress County has been awarded $225,000 for the development of a baseball field, soccer field grading, a restroom and maintenance facility, concession stand, parking, as well as lighting enhancements. The county will provide a match in the amount of $225,000 to ensure the completion of this estimated $450,000 project.
“I appreciate TDEC’s investment in our community, and I know this important funding will have a tremendous impact on our citizens and our future leaders,” said Representative Keisling. “These upgrades will provide safe environments where our children can exercise and participate in team sports. I am grateful to Director Parish, his staff, and Deputy Governor Jim Henry for supporting our community, and I congratulate our local officials on securing this funding.”
Approximately $13.5 million in LPRF grants will be awarded to 51 communities across the state.
