Representative Zachary Pushes For A New Hospital To Serve Knoxville Military Veterans

(NASHVILLE) – Monday evening, Republican lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution co-sponsored by Representative Jason Zachary (R-Knoxville) that establishes a medical care facility for military veterans who live in the Knoxville region.

Senate Joint Resolution 4 urges the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to build a hospital in Knoxville. The addition of a new VA facility in this community would provide a more convenient treatment location for approximately 60,000 veterans who live in the area. Many of them currently travel more than 100 miles to VA hospitals in either Johnson City or Murfreesboro in order to receive medical care.

“Our servicemen and women deserve access to the best healthcare facilities available, and by locating a VA Hospital in Knoxville, we will increase the quality of care for Veterans throughout East TN by better serving our Knoxville veterans at home,” said Representative Zachary. “Our Veterans volunteered to serve us and defend our freedoms.  We owe it to them to insure that they have the best care possible.”

Jason Zachary serves as the Vice-Chair of the House & Insurance Banking Committee. He is also a member of the House Transportation Committee and the House Insurance & Banking Subcommittee. Zachary lives in Knoxville and represents House District 14, which includes part of Knox County. He can be reached by email at [email protected] or by calling (615) 741-2264.
