NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Jake McCalmon, R-Franklin, has secured $50,000 in state funding for High Hopes, Inc., a nonprofit preschool and pediatric therapy clinic in Franklin.
The funds will go toward operating and programming needs of the school and clinic, which seeks to empower children and foster growth and development through evidence-based curriculum and comprehensive therapy services.
“High Hopes provides excellent opportunities and care for families in Williamson County and across Middle Tennessee,” said McCalmon. “It’s an honor to have played a small role in advancing their mission of helping all children succeed. I’m grateful to each employee and volunteer for their passion and hard work, and I look forward to witnessing the organization’s continued impact on our community.”
High Hopes was established in 1984 to help ensure children with disabilities have their unique needs met. Today, it serves children of all abilities to help them thrive academically and therapeutically. The pediatric therapy clinic at High Hopes offers a multidisciplinary approach to care, including behavior, feeding, occupational, physical and speech therapy.
The organization served 977 children from 17 Tennessee counties between September 2023 and August 2024. Its mission is to “equip children, youth, and their families with the skills necessary to succeed through education, therapeutic services, and loving support.”
The appropriated funds are part of a $59.8 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April. Republican priorities include significant investments to improve academic outcomes, provide disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Helene, enhance public safety for all Tennesseans and increase funding to address transportation infrastructure needs.
Lawmakers also made significant investments in behavioral health, social services, and children and families, including $4 million to increase pediatric dental rates and $3 million to the Adult Healthcare Safety Net.
State Rep. Jake McCalmon of Franklin represents District 63 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes part of Williamson County.
