(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Ron Travis (R-Dayton) today announced three grant awards from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) totaling $25,000 for House District 31.
The monies are a part of TNECD’s ThreeStar Competitive Grant program. The funding will be used for a variety of local programs addressing economic development, efficient government, public safety, health, education and workforce development.
To be eligible, each community had to demonstrate that it met program requirements in all five key areas. Amounts and recipients in District 31 include:
- $15,000 for Rhea County
- $5,000 for Roane County
- $5,000 for Sequatchie County
“The investments made by TNECD in District 31 are critical to the health and well-being of our residents, as well as our future economic development,” said Representative Travis. “Like many communities across the state, we continue to experience remarkable growth. With this increase in population, some of our resources have been overextended. These monies will allow our local leaders to continue to keep up with the growing needs of our citizens.”
Approximately $955,000 has been awarded to Tennessee communities by the TNECD through this round of grants.
