State Rep. Kelly Keisling, R-Byrdstown, announced today the city of Oneida will receive $392,000 through the Recreational Trails Program.
The city will use the funding to support development of the Bear Creek Park trail project, which includes construction of a one-mile ADA-accessible multi-use trail and an ADA-compliant parking lot. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s (TDEC) Office of Outdoor Recreation awarded the grant.
“This trail will enhance outdoor recreation opportunities for residents and visitors alike,” Keisling said. “Investments like this help strengthen our communities and improve quality of life across the region. I’m grateful to TDEC for their continued support.”
So far this year, the Office of Outdoor Recreation has awarded more than $22 million in parks and recreation grants to 31 communities across Tennessee.
The Recreational Trails Program provides federal funding to match local investments in trail-related projects, including land acquisition, trail construction and rehabilitation, non-routine maintenance and trailhead facilities.
