NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Debra Moody, R-Covington, today announced $300,000 in state funding to upgrade Nancy Lane Park in Atoka.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will administer the grant through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), which members of the 114th General Assembly approved in the 2025-26 state budget.
“Nancy Lane Park’s many recreational opportunities make it an excellent spot for families and community members to gather,” said Moody. “This significant funding will help provide much-needed upgrades and make the park more accessible for residents and visitors. I’m thankful to the many town leaders who worked hard to secure this grant and I’m eager to see the project’s completion.”
Atoka will use the funding to construct a new Americans with Disabilities (ADA) compliant concession stand, staff offices and a maintenance shop. It will also be used for ADA pathway upgrades and repaving and a paved park entry.
The state’s funding matches local government investments to help expand access to outdoor opportunities and improve quality of life for Tennesseans. City and county governments can receive LPRF grants for trail development and capital projects in parks, greenways and natural areas. Additionally, the funds can be used to purchase land for eligible projects.
More than $22 million was administered to 33 communities across the state by TDEC through the LPRF program, the Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program (TRIP) and the Recreational Trails Program (RTP).
State Rep. Debra Moody represents District 81 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Tipton and part of Haywood counties.
