NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Fred Atchley, R-Sevierville, has been recognized by the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation for his commitment to supporting farmers and advancing the state’s agriculture industry.

Atchley was among several state lawmakers named to the inaugural class of Friends of Farm Bureau for their support of legislation benefitting Tennessee farmers and their engagement with the local agricultural community.

“I’m proud to stand with Tennessee farmers and support the family farms that are so important to our communities,” Atchley said. “I’m grateful to the Farm Bureau for this recognition and will continue working to advance policies that give our farmers the tools they need to succeed.”

In 2026, the Tennessee General Assembly approved new laws to expand insurance coverage for homeowners and farmers, protect the Volunteer State’s meat industry by launching a statewide branding initiative highlighting Tennessee-raised livestock, and streamline the process for local farmers to lease land from historic sites.

The agriculture and forestry industries employ hundreds of thousands of Tennesseans and directly and indirectly contribute more than $103 billion annually to the Volunteer State’s economy.

Fred Atchley represents District 12 in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Sevier County. He serves on the Judiciary Committee, Transportation Committee, Criminal Justice Subcommittee and Transportation Subcommittee.
