NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Debra Moody, R-Covington, is congratulating Haywood County for receiving a $525,000 grant for the Haywood County Sugar Creek Trail extension project and $562,446 for the development of the Town of Stanton’s new city park. The funding was awarded through the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Office of Outdoor Recreation (TDEC) Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF) and the Grant Opportunity Fund (Go Fund).
“I’d like to thank the local and state leaders who helped secure this funding for Haywood County,” said Moody. “Investments like these truly help strengthen our rural communities and improve the quality of life for the families who call them home. Our parks and trails are an important community asset, and these investments will help create more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the remarkable outdoors the Volunteer State has to offer.
The Office of Outdoor Recreation is partnering with the TDEC on several projects to make funding more accessible for local communities by providing a portion of the required match through the Grant Opportunity Fund.
The GO Fund, which is available exclusively to distressed and at-risk rural communities, awarded $6.8 million in matching funds across this round of projects.
Haywood County is one of 19 communities across Tennessee receiving funding through this round of Local Parks and Recreation Fund and Recreational Trails Program grants.
Rep. Debra Moody represents District 81, which includes Tipton and part of Haywood counties.
