NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Speaker Pro Tempore Pat Marsh, R-Shelbyville, was appointed Jan. 16 by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairman of the House Ethics Committee and the Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Subcommittee for the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.
“Representative Pat Marsh is a respected leader with a strong commitment to integrity and accountability,” said Sexton. “As chairman of the Ethics Committee, Pat will ensure that the highest standards of conduct are upheld in the General Assembly.”
The House Ethics Committee is responsible for establishing and enforcing a code of conduct for the House of Representatives. The committee will hear alleged violations of the code by House members and offer advisory ethics opinions.
“The people of Tennessee deserve public servants who are held to the highest possible standards,” Marsh said. “The Ethics Committee and Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Subcommittee further our commitment to transparency and accountability, and I look forward to ensuring that Tennesseans know their elected officials are serving them well. I’m honored Speaker Sexton selected me to serve as chair of these important committees.”
The Workplace Discrimination and Harassment Subcommittee is an arm of the Ethics Committee, which is tasked with enforcing and advising on a code of conduct for the House.
Marsh, a retired trucking professional, has represented House District 62 since 2009. He lives in Shelbyville with his wife, Mary, and has two sons, Rob and John.
During the 114th General Assembly, Marsh will also serve on the Commerce Committee, Banking and Consumer Affairs Subcommittee, Government Operations Committee, Naming and Designating Committee, Transportation Committee and Calendar and Rules Committee.
State Rep. Pat Marsh represents House District 62, which includes Bedford, Moore and part of Lincoln counties.
