State Rep. Rick Scarbrough, R-Oak Ridge, was officially sworn in to represent House District 33 in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Rick Scarbrough, R-Oak Ridge, was officially sworn in to represent House District 33 in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.

For nearly 30 years, Scarbrough served his community through the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and Clinton Police Department, including 16 years as Clinton’s Chief of Police. Now, he is the Executive Director of the University of Tennessee’s Law Enforcement Innovation Center. In his personal life, he is a proud husband, father and grandfather.

“It is an incredible honor to serve the citizens of House District 33 in the 114th General Assembly,” Scarbrough said. “I’m beyond grateful to my community for placing their trust in me to be their voice in Nashville. I’m ready to get to work and make a difference!”  

Scarbrough was appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve on the Insurance Committee, Judiciary Committee, Insurance Subcommittee and Criminal Justice Subcommittee.    

He joins the 75-member Republican supermajority, and is one of nine freshmen lawmakers in the House of Representatives. 

The General Assembly will convene for a special session on school choice, disaster relief for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and illegal immigration on Jan. 27.
