Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, has appointed State Rep. Jerome Moon, R-Maryville, as chairman of the House Cities and Counties Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.
“Rep. Jerome Moon has a deep understanding of the needs of Tennessee’s local governments,” Speaker Sexton said. “As chairman of the Cities and Counties Subcommittee, Jerome’s leadership will be essential in fostering strong partnerships between the state and local communities.”
The seven-member subcommittee is responsible for overseeing laws related to cities and counties in Tennessee.
“I am honored to be reappointed as Chairman of the Cities and Counties Subcommittee of the State and Local Government Committee,” Moon said. “Local governments are the backbone of our communities, and I look forward to working closely with fellow lawmakers, local leaders, and citizens to address the unique challenges and opportunities facing Tennessee’s cities and counties. Together, we can build stronger partnerships to better serve the people of our great state.”
Moon has served in the 110th through the 114th General Assembly representing House District 8. In addition to chairing the Cities and Counties Subcommittee, he will serve on the Commerce Committee, State and Local Government Committee, and Elections and Campaign Finance Subcommittee during this legislative session.
