Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, appointed Rep. Dennis Powers, R-Jacksboro, to the Tennessee-Ireland Trade Commission.

“Rep. Powers has been a leader in fostering economic growth and strengthening Tennessee’s partnerships both within the state and beyond,” Speaker Sexton said. “I have no doubt his leadership will strengthen economic and cultural ties between Tennessee and Ireland, benefiting businesses and communities across our state.”

Powers passed a law creating the commission in 2024. Its goal is to advance bilateral trade and investment between Tennessee and Ireland, with a focus on encouraging mutual investment in infrastructure, human capital and promoting business, education and cultural exchange.

“Being appointed to the Tennessee-Ireland Trade Commission is an exciting opportunity to further strengthen our state’s economic growth and global relationships,” Powers said. “I look forward to working with others to foster bilateral trade and promote mutual investment between Tennessee and Ireland.”

Powers’ term begins immediately and runs through Nov. 4, 2026.
