NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Robert Stevens, R-Smyrna, honored the Eagleville High School state champion baseball team in the Tennessee House of Representatives on March 6.

Last spring, the Eagleville Eagles captured their third consecutive TSSAA Class 1A state championship with a 10-0 victory over the University School of Johnson City in just six innings.

“Over the last several years, Eagleville has dominated the diamond, and securing a three-peat at the state championship is nothing short of extraordinary,” Stevens said. “It’s an honor to celebrate their dedication and hard work here at the Capitol. The Eagles have truly made Rutherford County proud!”

The team’s postseason journey to the state tournament included victories over Cornersville, Richland and Collinwood. The Eagles hit their stride, winning four straight games to claim the state title. They defeated Union City, Oakdale and South Pittsburg before securing their final win over the University School of Johnson City. They wrapped up the season with a 30-5 record.

Eagleville’s head coach Brandon Bassham took over in 2019 and led the program to its first state title in 2022.

Only one team in TSSAA history has won more consecutive state championships than Eagleville, and with a four-peat in 2025, the Eagles could tie the record.

House Joint Resolution 67 was unanimously passed by both chambers of the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Bill Lee.

Robert Stevens represents House District 13 which includes part of Rutherford County.
