Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, has reappointed State Rep. Rusty Grills, R-Newbern, as chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.
“Rep. Grills is a dedicated farmer and advocate for Tennessee’s agricultural community and natural resources,” Sexton said. “Rusty’s leadership will be instrumental in advancing policies that support our farmers and preserve our state’s natural heritage.”
The eight-member subcommittee is responsible for legislative oversight of laws related to energy, forestry, natural resources, conservation, game and fish, as well as mines and minerals. It also oversees environmental matters, parks and recreation, public lands, geological surveys, watershed districts, soil conservation, flood and drainage projects, military parks, battlefields, and tourism.
“As a farmer, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of policies that protect and strengthen Tennessee’s agricultural community and natural resources. I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure that our state remains a leader in both farming and environmental stewardship for future generations,” Grills said.
First elected in 2019, Grills is serving his third term representing House District 77. In addition to chairing the Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee, he will serve on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, Finance, Ways and Means Committee, Insurance Committee, and Select Committee on Rules during this legislative session.
