House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, R-Goodlettsville, has named State Rep. Renea Jones, R-Unicoi, to fill one of six Deputy Whip positions within the Tennessee House Republican Caucus of the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – House Majority Whip Johnny Garrett, R-Goodlettsville, has named State Rep. Renea Jones, R-Unicoi, to fill one of six Deputy Whip positions within the Tennessee House Republican Caucus of the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.
“Renea Jones has already distinguished herself as a leader among her fellow freshmen Republicans,” Garrett said. “Her expertise in agriculture and education will be crucial in our fight to uphold Tennessee’s conservative values, and I’m thankful for her willingness to serve.”
As Deputy Whip, Jones will assist in counting votes as well as communicating with members about the Republican supermajority’s position on issues or legislative initiatives of importance. She will support Garrett, who is the fourth-ranking officer of the House Republican Caucus.
“I’m honored to be named Deputy Whip and grateful for Rep. Garrett’s trust,” Jones said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to pass strong conservative legislation that keeps Tennessee on a path to success.”
Jones joins newly named Deputy Whips Aron Maberry, R-Clarksville; Lee Reeves, R-Franklin; Michele Reneau, R-Signal Mountain; Rick Scarbrough, R-Oak Ridge; and Tom Stinnett, R-Friendsville.
Renea Jones represents House District 4 which includes Unicoi and part of Carter Counties. She serves on the Education Committee, Insurance Committee, Higher Education Subcommittee and Insurance Subcommittee.
