State Rep. Tandy Darby, R-Greenfield, announced today that Breakers Marina in Swan Bay will receive $10,600 from the Tennessee Water Access Tourism and Recreation (WATR) Grant Program to improve water access and support tourism.
Breakers Marina qualified for the grant by operating as a registered Tennessee business and paying county property taxes and a Payment in Lieu of Tax (PILOT) during the previous calendar year. The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development awarded the funding, which can cover up to one-third of those tax payments, depending on available resources.
“Investing in local marinas strengthens our economy and supports tourism throughout West Tennessee,” Darby said. “Breakers Marina provides vital outdoor recreation access and this funding will enhance services for residents and visitors.”
The WATR Grant Program is part of Tennessee’s broader effort to expand recreational opportunities and support rural economic growth.
