State Rep. Paul Sherrell, R-Sparta, today announced arts organizations in Warren County will receive a combined $57,900 in state grant funding to support education and outreach programs.

The city of McMinnville will receive two grants totaling $46,000, while the Warren Arts Foundation will receive $11,900.

“These investments are a win for our community,” Sherrell said. “Supporting the arts helps preserve our local culture, enhances quality of life and strengthens economic development in Warren County.”

The funding comes from the Tennessee Arts Commission, which administers grant programs through a competitive process. Citizen advisory panels with expertise in various arts disciplines review applications and the commission provides final approval.

The grants are part of $12.3 million allocated in the state’s 2025-26 budget by the Tennessee General Assembly to support arts initiatives in all 95 counties.

“Tennessee is fortunate to be a state where few can rival the breadth and depth of its arts and culture,” said Anne B. Pope, executive director of the Tennessee Arts Commission. “Arts and culture are vital tools for attracting and retaining businesses and help build stronger communities by enhancing the distinctive character of Tennessee places.”

According to the commission, Tennessee’s nonprofit arts and culture sector generates $1.4 billion in annual economic activity and supports more than 23,400 full-time jobs. The industry also plays a key role in education, tourism and community development.
