State Rep. Paul Sherrell, R-Sparta, today announced the McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center and the Sparta White County Activity Center will receive a combined $92,000 in state grants to improve facilities and expand services for older adults.
The funding is part of $5 million included in the 2025-26 state budget to support 125 senior centers across Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) administers the grants through a competitive process, with individual awards ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
The McMinnville-Warren County Senior Center will receive $50,000 and the Sparta White County Activity Center will receive $42,000.
“I’m thankful for the continued commitment from state and local leaders to support our senior centers,” Sherrell said. “These grants represent an important partnership that helps our communities care for and celebrate older Tennesseans.”
Funds may be used for building improvements, equipment, marketing, activities, programming and other routine operating expenses, excluding staff salaries.
