NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, announced today that Tennessee Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients will receive partial benefits for November.
Following guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) will issue 65% of November SNAP benefits. Recipients originally scheduled to receive benefits between Nov. 1-12 will begin receiving them on Nov. 12. All other households will receive partial benefits on their usual date.
“I’m grateful that families across Tennessee who rely on SNAP are receiving this support as we wait for the federal government to reopen,” Russell said. “No one should ever have to go hungry and I thank those who donated to local food pantries to help their neighbors during this challenging time.”
If directed, upon the reopening of the federal government, TDHS says they will work quickly with USDA to process remaining benefits for SNAP recipients. Households can check their benefit amount or payment date at onedhs.tn.gov/csp or on the EBT Edge app.
Lowell Russell represents District 21 in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Loudon and Monroe counties.
