The Dickson County Historic Courthouse was built in the early 1800s and is the oldest courthouse still in use in Tennessee, according to the county’s website.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Mary Littleton, R-Dickson, announced $500,000 in grant funding has been awarded for renovations at the Dickson County Historic Courthouse.

The funding, administered by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) through the Tennessee Historic Development Grant Program, will help local communities preserve and restore historic courthouses.

“The Dickson County Historic Courthouse has been a pillar in our community for centuries and this grant will help county leaders ensure it will continue that legacy for generations to come,” Littleton said. “Thank you to TNECD for supporting our community’s heritage and I look forward to seeing the renovation progress in the months ahead. ”

More than $5 million was awarded to 11 counties across the state by TNECD for courthouse renovation projects. Applications were reviewed within the department and by the Tennessee Historical Commission (THC).
