Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, has renamed State Rep. Kevin Vaughan, R-Collierville, as chairman of the House Commerce Committee for the 114th General Assembly.

The 23-member Commerce Committee is responsible for legislative oversight of laws related to insurance, state regulatory boards, taxes, corporations, banks and other financial institutions, general business, interest rates, utilities, communications (including telephone, telegraph, radio and television) and legislation impacting trade.

“Representative Vaughan has consistently demonstrated his leadership and a deep understanding of the issues that impact Tennessee’s economy and businesses,” said Sexton. “I am confident that his vision, dedication and business experience will ensure the continued success of our state’s commerce initiatives.”

Vaughan, a licensed engineer and real estate broker originally from Hardeman County, is serving his fourth term representing District 95 in the House of Representatives. He serves as a member of the Banking and Consumer Affairs Subcommittee, Business and Utilities Subcommittee, Finance, Ways, and Means Committee and Calendar and Rules Committee.

“I am honored to once again serve as chairman of the House Commerce Committee, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues to strengthen Tennessee’s economy and support our businesses,” said Rep. Kevin Vaughan. “By promoting policies that foster growth, innovation and responsible regulation, we can ensure Tennessee remains a leader in commerce and opportunity for all our citizens.”
