State Rep. Tom Stinnett, R-Friendsville, was officially sworn in to represent House District 20 in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Tom Stinnett, R-Friendsville, was officially sworn in to represent House District 20 in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.

Stinnett spent nearly 40 years educating children in Career and Technical Education and coaching several sports teams within the Maryville City School System. Most recently, he served ten years as a Blount County Commissioner. In his personal life, he is a proud husband of 42 years, father and grandfather.

“I’m honored to represent the citizens of House District 20 in Nashville,” Stinnett said. “I’m deeply thankful to my community for trusting me to protect our conservative values and beliefs. Now, I’m ready to get to work!”

Stinnett was appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve on the Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee, Judiciary Committee, Agriculture & Natural Resources Subcommittee and Civil Justice Subcommittee for the next two years. 

He joins the 75-member Republican supermajority, and is one of nine freshmen lawmakers in the House of Representatives. 

The General Assembly will convene for a special session on school choice, disaster relief for communities impacted by Hurricane Helene and illegal immigration on Jan. 27.
