NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Esther Helton-Haynes, R-East Ridge, was reappointed Jan. 16 by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chair of the House Insurance Subcommittee in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.
“Representative Esther Helton-Haynes has a strong commitment to ensuring Tennesseans have access to affordable and reliable insurance options,” said Sexton. “As chairman of the Insurance Subcommittee, Esther’s leadership will be instrumental in shaping policies that benefit individuals and families across our state.”
The Insurance Subcommittee is an arm of the Insurance Committee, which is charged with governing state laws that relate to public and private insurance, health insurance, automobile insurance, home insurance, and consumer protections.
“Tennesseans rely on insurance and it’s essential we strive to make reforms that are streamlined, efficient and transparent,” Helton-Haynes said. “I’m committed to finding innovative and proven ways to protect consumers and ensure they have access to quality and affordable insurance. I thank Speaker Sexton for the opportunity to chair this important subcommittee and to deliver meaningful results for residents of the Volunteer State.”
Helton-Haynes, a semi-retired East Ridge nurse, has represented District 30 in the House of Representatives since 2019. This will be her second term as chair of the Insurance Subcommittee.
During the 114th General Assembly, she will also serve on the Health Committee, Insurance Committee and Population Health Subcommittee.
The 114th General Assembly officially convened on Jan. 14 and completed its organizational meeting with the appointment of committees by Speaker Sexton.
State Rep. Esther Helton-Haynes represents House District 30, which includes part of Hamilton County.
