State Rep. Iris Rudder, R-Winchester, has been reappointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairwoman of the House Public Service Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Iris Rudder, R-Winchester, has been reappointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairwoman of the House Public Service Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.

Rudder, a small business owner, is entering her fourth term as a State Representative and her second chairing the Public Service Subcommittee. Before being elected to the State House in 2018, she served on the Franklin County Commission and Chamber of Commerce. She also served on the board for the South Central Human Resource Agency.   

“Public service is the cornerstone of local and state government, and I’m proud to serve another term as the chairwoman of this important committee,” Rudder said. “I’m thankful to Speaker Sexton for his continued trust in my leadership, and I look forward to advancing impactful legislation this session.”

The six-member Public Service Subcommittee, an arm of the State & Local Government Committee, oversees legislation related to public services, including government agencies, human relations and other related issues as designated by Speaker Sexton.  

“Representative Rudder has been a steadfast advocate for Tennessee’s public servants and communities,” Sexton said. “Her experience in commerce and government operations will be invaluable in strengthening public services statewide.”

This will be Rudder’s second term as Public Service` Subcommittee chair, and fourth term on the committee. During her time in the legislature, she has also served as vice-chairman of the Government Operations Committee and Insurance Committee.

Along with her chairmanship, Rudder will serve on the State & Local Government Committee, Health Committee and Population Health Subcommittee.

Iris Rudder represents District 39 which includes Franklin and Marion Counties.
