State Rep. Michele Carringer, R-Knoxville, has been appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairwoman of the House Population Health Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Michele Carringer, R-Knoxville, has been appointed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairwoman of the House Population Health Subcommittee for the 114th General Assembly.
Carringer is an advertising professional who served on the Knox County Commission for four years prior to her election to the State House in 2019. She has also been actively involved in several non-profits, including the Knoxville Academy of Medical Alliance and the Knox County Foster Care Review Board. In her personal life, she is a proud wife, mother and grandmother.
“I’m honored to serve another term as chairwoman of the Population Health Subcommittee,” Carringer said. “In recent years, we’ve passed critical legislation and worked diligently to ensure bills are fully prepared before reaching the Health Committee. I appreciate Speaker Sexton’s confidence in me, and I’m eager to get to work.”
The ten-member Population Health Subcommittee is an arm of the House Health Committee and deals with bills relating to the public health of Tennesseans.

This will be Carringer’s second term as Population Health Subcommittee chair, which she has led since the committee began in 2023.
Along with her chairmanship, Carringer will also serve on the Health Committee, State & Local Government Committee and the Departments & Agencies Subcommittee.
