NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Debra Moody, R-Covington, has secured $50,000 for the Mid-South Military Museum in Atoka.
The funds will be used for the display, storage, preservation and restoration of historical military artifacts. The investment will also go toward website development and building repairs.
“The Mid-South Military Museum is an excellent place to learn about our nation’s armed forces and the men and women who have fought for our freedom and safety,” said Moody. “Preserving history is essential, and these funds will help tell more Tennesseans about military advancements and America’s story. I thank the organization for its dedication to educating future generations and I look forward to seeing the completed improvements.”
The Mid-South Military Museum was founded in 1990. It has military artifacts, uniforms, patches, vehicles and weapons from several wars, including the Civil War, World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War.
The appropriated funds are part of a $59.8 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April. Republican priorities include significant investments to improve academic outcomes, provide disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Helene, enhance public safety for all Tennesseans and increase funding to address transportation infrastructure needs.
Lawmakers also made significant investments in the Tennessee State Museum and several other heritage centers and local museums across the Volunteer State.
State Rep. Debra Moody of Covington represents District 81 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Tipton and part of Haywood Counties.
