NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Pat Marsh, R-Shelbyville, has secured $52,500 in state funding for the Tennessee Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Bell Buckle.
The funds will be used for the care and maintenance of the memorial to honor the firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
“The Fallen Firefighter Memorial is an incredible tribute to the great Tennesseans who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting communities across our state,” said Marsh. “This investment will help with the maintenance of the memorial to ensure the legacies of these great Tennesseans are never forgotten. I thank my colleagues for supporting this appropriation, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for emergency responders in the Volunteer State.”
The Fallen Firefighter Memorial is located on the campus of the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy (TFACA). It honors the 272 firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty in Tennessee. The site includes a statue of a firefighter, a Walk of Honor, and a memorial with a steel I-beam recovered from Ground Zero in New York City to remember the firefighters lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
State lawmakers in 2005 approved legislation dedicating one acre of the TFACA for a memorial to honor firefighters in the state. The first phase of the project was dedicated on Sept. 11, 2008, with the addition of the fallen firefighter statue being unveiled on Sept. 10, 2011.

The appropriated funds are part of a $59.8 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April. Republican priorities include significant investments to improve academic outcomes, provide disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Helene, enhance public safety for all Tennesseans and increase funding to address transportation infrastructure needs.
State Rep. Pat Marsh of Shelbyville represents District 62 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Bedford, Moore and part of Lincoln counties.
