NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. William Slater, R-Gallatin, has helped secure a driver services kiosk in the Trousdale County clerk’s office in Hartsville.

The new kiosk from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security allows residents to renew or replace a driver’s license or photo ID, advance a teen or Graduated Driver License, and renew or replace a handgun carry permit.

“This new kiosk will streamline the process of fulfilling necessary driver services for Trousdale County residents,” said Slater. “Improving government efficiency continues to be a priority, and this self-service machine will provide more convenience and lower wait times. I thank Trousdale Clerk Rita Crowder for her dedication to serving our community and I’m appreciative to the Tennessee Department of Safety for providing this much-needed kiosk.”

The kiosk will also allow Tennesseans to pay reinstatement fees, reissue driver’s licenses after reinstatement requirements are met, change address, and provide or update emergency contact information. It can take photos and accept payments with debit or credit cards.

“We are so happy to finally have a kiosk,” said Trousdale County Clerk Rita Crowder. “While we are unable to provide the REAL ID, this kiosk has already and will be beneficial for our residents. We have already had several people use it, and it’s very user-friendly. I appreciate the help from Rep. Slater in pushing this for us. I truly believe that the help he provided is the reason we now have one. All of our surrounding counties have a kiosk, but not all provide the REAL ID and are in the same boat as we are in that respect. Nonetheless, we are still excited and see this being a great asset for our county.”

Driver service centers or kiosks are located in 82 Tennessee counties. Before the addition of this new kiosk, the nearest locations to Trousdale County were in Sumner, Wilson, Smith and Macon counties.

The kiosk is located off the main lobby in the Trousdale County Administration Building, 328 Broadway, Hartsville, Tenn.

State Rep. William Slater of Gallatin represents District 35 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Trousdale and part of Sumner counties.
