NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Gino Bulso, R-Brentwood, is encouraging Tennesseans to celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness ahead of Independence Day and the nation’s 250th birthday in 2026.

Bulso this legislative session passed a new law designating June as Celebration of Life Month, July as Celebration of Liberty Month and August as Celebration of the Pursuit of Happiness Month in Tennessee, recognizing some of the core values that make the United States an exceptional nation.

“The United States is a beacon of freedom, perseverance and strength in the world. Tennessee has played a vital role in this unmatched success,” said Bulso. “The Volunteer State will now lead the nation as we prepare to celebrate 250 years of American exceptionalism next year. I encourage all Tennesseans to celebrate our country’s enduring spirit by honoring and cherishing the unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

The month of June was chosen as the Celebration of Life Month to commemorate the date the United States Supreme Court decided Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which overturned Roe v. Wade. July was selected as Celebration of Liberty Month to recognize the month when the United States gained its independence, and August was chosen as Celebration of Pursuit of Happiness Month to commemorate Tennessee children returning to the classroom.

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A nationwide initiative called America250 seeks to encourage Americans to recognize and honor the nation’s founding and successes.

Tennessee has joined 56 states and territories and Washington, D.C., in establishing America250 Commissions to help celebrate the milestone. The Tennessee 250th Commission, created by the General Assembly in 2019, will highlight the role of Tennessee and Tennesseans in the nation’s history.

State Rep. Gino Bulso represents District 61 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes part of Williamson County. He is chairman of the Naming and Designating Committee and serves on the Calendar and Rules Committee, Education Committee, Judiciary Committee, Children and Family Affairs Subcommittee and the K-12 Subcommittee.
