State Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, announced $124,000 in state funding was awarded to three senior centers in Loudon and Monroe Counties.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, announced $124,000 in state funding was awarded to three senior centers in Loudon and Monroe Counties.

The Tennessee Department of Disability and Aging (DDA) will distribute $5 million in grant awards to 125 senior centers across the state. The funding is part of a $42.5 million grant pool approved by the Tennessee General Assembly in the 2025-26 state budget to support critical emergency and community services.

“Our seniors have spent their lives giving to their families and communities so it is only right that we continue to invest in their well-being and quality of life,” Russell said. “I’m grateful to my colleagues in the General Assembly for prioritizing older Tennesseans and supporting Loudon and Monroe counties.”

Local grant recipients include:

  • Loudon County Senior Center: $43,000
  • Our PLACE Adult Day Center: $37,000
  • Monroe County Senior Citizens and Friends, Inc.: $44,000

Grant funding will be used by these senior centers for transportation, facility repairs and quality of life programming.

This year, the DDA was able to provide grant funding to every senior center that applied, according to the department. Grants range from $10,00 to $50,000.
