NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Ryan Williams, R-Cookeville, today announced $257,413 in grant funding for local horticulture producers in Putnam County.

Cherry Creek Nursery was awarded $230,000, and Maple Glenn Farms received $27,413 through the Tennessee Forestry, Agriculture and Rural Markets (FARM) cost-share program, administered by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The program supports farmers, forest landowners and rural businesses.

“Agriculture is deeply rooted in Tennessee’s heritage. Further strengthening this vital industry is essential for our continued success,” said Williams. “This funding will have a significant impact on our community by modernizing operations and boosting our local economy. I’m grateful to Cherry Creek Nursery and Maple Glenn Farms for their commitment to Putnam County, and I congratulate them on these important grant opportunities.”

The FARM cost-share program helps offset costs of equipment, infrastructure and supply chain enhancements. Funding helps build long-term resilience in Tennessee’s farms and forests, promotes job creation and improves economic outcomes for rural communities, according to the TDA.

Cherry Creek Nursery and Maple Glenn Farms will use the funding for equipment purchases and expansions to their horticulture production businesses.

Twenty-seven agricultural and forestry projects were awarded grants during this funding round, bringing the total to 97 recipients in Tennessee across 4 funding cycles.
