NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, provided updates on the U.S. Highway 411 and Niles Ferry Road project.

The project includes the addition of turn lanes on Niles Ferry Road, crosswalks and a traffic signal at the intersection.

“This intersection is an important safety and traffic priority for our community, especially with its proximity to Vonore Elementary School,” Russell said. “I know many residents are eager to see progress on this project and I appreciate TDOT continuing to provide updates as they work through necessary planning and coordination phases.”

The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is currently going through the right-of-way acquisition and utility coordination phases which typically take around one year to complete.

TDOT officials were in the area on May 14 to conduct their on-site review of the project plans.

As of May 18, the department still plans to put the project out for construction bids by the end of 2026 and is currently tracking to begin that process in December, according to TDOT.

TDOT is also continuing to work on several road projects in Loudon and Monroe counties including the resurfacing of SR-68, a new section of road on SR-322 and improvements to Highway 11, as well as conducting a study on current traffic conditions and potential improvements to the I-40/I-75 corridor.

Lowell Russell represents District 21 in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Loudon and Monroe counties.
