NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Ron Gant, R-Piperton, today announced that $450,000 in state funding has been awarded to the Town of Selmer for improvements to Selmer City Park.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) will administer the funding through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund (LPRF), which the Tennessee General Assembly approved in the 2026-27 state budget.
“Selmer City Park is an incredible place for families to get outside and stay active,” said Gant. “This important grant will allow the town to make essential improvements to the park’s facilities, including a new pool that residents and visitors can enjoy for years to come. I’m excited to see this project come to life and I look forward to witnessing its positive impact in McNairy County.”
The grant will fund construction of a new pool, an ADA-compliant bath house, and accessible parking and sidewalks at Selmer City Park.
The LPRF provides state funding to match local government investments for recreation projects and the purchase of land for parks, natural areas, greenways and recreational facilities.
This year, TDEC administered more than $20 million to 19 communities across Tennessee through the LPRF and Recreational Trails Program to help enhance parks, natural areas and trails. For more information on the LPRF program, visit the Office of Outdoor Recreation website here.
