NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Chris Todd, R-Madison County, was reappointed Jan. 16 by House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, to serve as chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee in the 114th Tennessee General Assembly.

“Representative Chris Todd has been a reliable voice for Tennessee’s agricultural community and a dedicated steward of our natural resources,” said Sexton. “Chris has a proven track record of addressing the needs of farmers, landowners, and conservation efforts across our state, and I look forward to continuing our work together in his role.”

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee has legislative oversight over all laws pertaining to energy, forestry, natural resources, conservation, and game and fish. The committee is also charged with overseeing environmental matters, military parks and tourism.

“As Tennessee’s top industry, agriculture is intertwined into our state’s DNA and integral to our success,” Todd said. “Protecting our farmers, lands and natural resources is a worthy task and I’m proud to play a role in it. I’m grateful to Speaker Sexton for his confidence in me and I’m excited to continue working hard to protect our state’s natural beauty and agricultural heritage.”

During the 114th General Assembly, Todd will also serve on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Subcommittee, Judiciary Committee, Civil Justice Subcommittee, Transportation Committee, and Calendar and Rules Committee.

Todd, a former biologist and environmental specialist, has represented House District 73 in the General Assembly since 2019. He is a small business owner and member of the West Tennessee River Basin Authority board of directors.

The 114th General Assembly officially convened on Jan. 14 and completed its organizational meeting with the appointment of committees by Speaker Sexton.
