NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Chris Todd, R-Madison County, has helped secure $10 million in state funding for infrastructure improvements and air service development at Jackson Regional Airport, formerly McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport.

The funds will be used for the construction of two corporate hangars with parking areas, roadways, taxi lane access and a new apron. The airport will also construct a general aviation T-hangar, which will accommodate private pilots and aircraft owners.

“The Jackson Regional Airport is a vital partner in meeting West Tennessee’s transportation needs,” said Todd. “This important investment will significantly enhance airport operations and encourage further economic development in Madison County and West Tennessee. I’m grateful to Governor Bill Lee and my legislative colleagues for prioritizing critical infrastructure needs like this in the state budget.”

Todd has been highlighting the critical infrastructure needs at Jackson Regional Airport for several years to benefit the region’s citizens. The planned upgrades from this funding will enhance the airport’s capacity, boost opportunities for residents and businesses and help meet increased aviation demands.

Jackson Regional Airport recently reconstructed a runway, upgraded its air traffic control facility, and improved lighting and navigation systems. The airport also expanded services with the addition of TSA screening capabilities and a new commercial air provider in December.

The appropriated funds are part of a $59.8 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April. Republican priorities include significant investments to improve academic outcomes, provide disaster relief for victims of Hurricane Helene, enhance public safety for all Tennesseans and increase funding to address transportation infrastructure needs. Lawmakers allocated $60 million for maintenance projects for commercial and general aviation airports across the Volunteer State.

State Rep. Chris Todd represents District 73 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes most of Madison County.
