Event aims at raising awareness for organ and tissue donation across Tennessee
(NASHVILLE) — State Representative Roger Kane (R-Knoxville) today encouraged residents to participate in the upcoming Donate Life Week in Knox County.
This year’s event is scheduled for 2:00PM on Thursday, October 11 at the Strawberry Plains Driver Services Center, located at 7320 Region Lane in Knoxville, Tennessee.
A partnership between the governor’s office, the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security’s Driver Services Division, Donate Life Tennessee, as well as local and state leaders, Donate Life Week is designed to help recognize employees at driver’s license facilities for their active role in encouraging organ and tissue donation among Tennessee’s motorists in efforts to help save lives.
State and local officials, including Representative Kane, and those whose lives have been saved through organ donation will visit area centers throughout Donate Life Week to urge others to become donors.
According to Donate Life, one organ and tissue donor in Tennessee could save as many as 8 lives and improve the quality of life for as many as 50 people.
“Becoming an organ donor is a quick and easy process that saves lives,” said Representative Kane. “With Donate Life Week happening, there’s no better time to become an organ and tissue donor than now. I urge our residents to celebrate Donate Life Week and give life.”
