State Representative William Lamberth Elected Majority Leader By House Republican Caucus

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — State Representative William Lamberth (R-Cottontown) has been elected by his peers to serve as House Majority Leader for the upcoming 111th Tennessee General Assembly.

Lamberth became the chief officer of the Republican party within the Tennessee House of Representatives during the Nov. 20 Republican Caucus Leadership Elections. He was previously Chairman of the House Criminal Justice Committee during the 110th Tennessee General Assembly.

As Majority Leader, Lamberth will provide direction and coordination as it relates to legislation that is of particular interest to the caucus. Additionally, he will serve as the chief negotiator with the Executive Branch, as well as Democratic House leadership.

Leader Lamberth will also represent the House Republican Caucus in all matters related to state government, speak for caucus members as authorized, provide membership support, carry out and direct liaison activities with the Senate Republican Leader, aid and assist the Assistant Majority Leader in overseeing the Administration’s legislation, appoint a Freshman Coordinator to organize meetings and serve as a general advisor to all freshman members, and provide direction and coordination of fundraising efforts for the caucus.

“I am extremely grateful for the support and trust my colleagues have placed in me to serve as their House Majority Leader for the 111th General Assembly,” said Leader Lamberth. “Tennessee is thriving under conservative leadership, and I am excited to work with our new governor, new leadership team, and our entire caucus to uphold the values and advance the priorities that matter most to our citizens.”

“William Lamberth is an effective legislative leader, and he is well-respected by our House Republican Caucus members,” said Tennessee House Speaker-Elect Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station). “I am pleased to have the opportunity to work with him in this new leadership capacity, and I know he will do a tremendous job serving our caucus, his community, and our state.”

“I am pleased that William Lamberth has been elected to serve as our Majority Leader,” said House Republican Caucus Chairman Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville). “William is a strong leader, and his knowledge and expertise on important issues impacting our citizens will continue to benefit the House Republican Caucus.”

“Leader Lamberth is a dedicated servant to his community and to Tennessee,” said Assistant Majority Leader Ron Gant (R-Rossville). “I know he will work tirelessly to ensure Tennessee remains a model of success that our entire nation can follow.”

The 111th General Assembly convenes on January 8, 2019. All members will be sworn into office at noon.
