House Majority Leader William Lamberth, State Senator Ferrell Haile Receive Rod Bragg Recovery Hero

Sumner County lawmakers honored by Tennessee Association of Recovery Court Professionals

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee House Majority Leader William Lamberth (R-Cottontown) and State Senator Ferrell Haile (R-Gallatin) are the 2018 recipients of the Rod Bragg Recovery Hero Award from the Tennessee Association of Recovery Court Professionals (TARCP).

This award was given to the Sumner County lawmakers by the TARCP in recognition as the organization’s Legislators of the Year. Lamberth and Haile received the honor for their unwavering support and advocacy on behalf of recovery courts across Tennessee.

According to its website, the TARCP supports recovery courts by providing training, technical assistance, education, legislative advocacy, and resource sharing, as well as networking opportunities for recovery courts and their partners. The TARCP’s efforts have resulted in the reduction of substance abuse, crime, and recidivism — both locally and throughout the state.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award from the TARCP,” said Leader Lamberth. “This organization has done an incredible job positively transforming the lives of countless Tennesseans in recent years. I am proud to support their daily work and the critical resources and services they provide to those in need.”

“This is a most cherished award,” added Sen. Haile.  “Research supports that these courts are improving outcomes and changing lives in Tennessee.   I am very humbled to receive this award and pleased to support their efforts across the state.”

“When legislators like Representative Lamberth and Senator Haile support programs like recovery courts the way they do, it helps dispel the stigma of addiction and adds credence to the fact that people, even those in the justice system, can and do recover with appropriate accountability, services, and resources,” said TARCP Executive Director Marie Crosson. “This, in turn, makes families and communities safer and healthier.  We appreciate their consistent support for recovery courts.”
