(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station) has named State Representative Kelly Keisling (R-Byrdstown) Chairman of the House State Government Committee. Keisling previously served as Chairman of the House Insurance & Banking Subcommittee during the 110th General Assembly.
The 19-member committee will be responsible for all legislation and matters related to state government.
“I am pleased that Representative Keisling will serve as the leader of the House State Government Committee,” said Speaker Casada. “His knowledge and expertise on all state issues will benefit the entire General Assembly and enable us to continue the remarkable progress Tennessee has made in recent years.”
“It is a great honor to be appointed Chairman of the House State Government Committee by Speaker Casada,” said Representative Keisling. “Tennessee is thriving under conservative leadership, but unique needs remain. My colleagues and I remain committed to identifying and creating new solutions to meet the challenges ahead of us, both this year and in the future.”
Representative Keisling was officially sworn in to office on Jan. 8, 2019.
He will also serve as a member of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources, and House Calendar & Rules Committees, as well as the House Corrections, House Departments & Agencies, and the House Public Service & Employees Subcommittees. Keisling lives in Byrdstown and represents Tennessee House District 38, which includes Macon, Clay, Pickett, Scott, and part of Fentress Counties.
