State Rep. Michael Hale, R-Smithville, today announced that $50,000 in state grant funding has been awarded to the Granville Museum for capital maintenance and improvement projects.
The competitive grants are administered by the Tennessee State Museum to museums and historic sites across the state for accessibility improvements, window and roof repairs and replacements, foundation work, and HVAC and electrical projects. The funds are part of a $5 million appropriation approved by the General Assembly for the Tennessee State Museum in the 2024-25 state budget.
“Granville is a beautiful and storied community with a history that deserves to be shared,” Hale said. “This important grant will help the Granville Museum continue in its mission of preserving the area’s rich past and sharing it with residents and visitors. I congratulate the museum for working hard to receive this significant funding and I’m grateful to the Tennessee State Museum for their work selecting deserving recipients.”
The museum was established in 1999 and includes resources and exhibits on clothing, textiles, genealogy, education, and military history in Granville.
Eighty-three museums across 46 counties received a Capital Maintenance and Improvement Grant this year. Since the program’s inception in 2023, museums in 68 counties have been awarded funds to help preserve Tennessee’s history.
