NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Clark Boyd, R-Lebanon, announced $50,000 in grant funding was awarded to the Fiddlers Grove Foundation, Inc. for capital maintenance and improvements.
The funds are part of a $5 million appropriation approved by the General Assembly in the 2024-25 state budget for Tennessee State Museum Capital Maintenance and Improvement program.
“Fiddlers Grove has been a fixture in the community for decades and the foundation’s leaders have done a phenomenal job in preserving Wilson County’s rich history, while also providing an entertaining experience for citizens,” Boyd said in a statement. “This grant award will help them make necessary updates and I thank the Tennessee State Museum for their support.”
Fiddlers Grove Historic Village contains over 60 buildings and other structures including a real train caboose and working grist mill. The Fiddlers Grove Foundation’s mission is to preserve the history of Wilson County through buildings, artifacts, oral and written histories, while engaging the public through exhibitions and publications, according to its website.
Grantees are able to use these funds for projects like building or land improvements, roof repairs, HVAC projects and accessibility updates.
There were over 150 grant applications in 2024, totaling $10.5 million in funding requests, according to the Tennessee State Museum.
As of this release, the Museum has made full or partial awards to 83 museums across the state, representing 46 counties. Over the last two years, the Museum has administered grants in 68 counties across the state.
