Assistant Majority Leader Ron Gant receives prestigious Eagle Forum Award

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — House Assistant Majority Leader Ron Gant (R-Rossville) has been named a 2020 recipient of the Tennessee Eagle Forum’s Eagle Award.

The prestigious honor bestowed upon Assistant Leader Gant recognizes the Rossville Republican for his conservative advocacy and leadership throughout the 111th Tennessee General Assembly.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this award for my advocacy on behalf of the citizens of my community and this state,” said Assistant Leader Gant. “I am grateful to the Tennessee Eagle Forum for this award, and I will never stop fighting to uphold the conservative values that are incredibly important to Tennesseans.”

This year, Gant led efforts to address costs associated with refugee resettlement in Tennessee by sponsoring House Bill 1929. The legislation was designed to encourage a dialogue between General Assembly members and Governor Lee in efforts to work together to determine potential costs associated with the resettlement program.

Assistant Leader Gant prioritized this critical legislation and guided it through the committee process to schedule it for a vote on the House floor. However, the measure stalled in the Senate, which means it will likely be reintroduced in 2021.

“We want to express our deep appreciation to Assistant Leader Gant for his friendship and for his commitment to working with us this year on House Bill 1929,” said Tennessee Eagle Forum President Bobbie Patray. “He is a powerful, conservative voice for the citizens of his community and for Tennessee, and he is very deserving of our award.”

Gant has served in the Tennessee General Assembly since 2017. He has quickly ascended the Republican leadership ranks having first served as Freshman Leader during the 110th General Assembly. Currently, Gant is Assistant Majority Leader for the 111th Tennessee General Assembly.
