Governor Haslam, Commissioner Rolfe, Announce Hörman, LLC To Establish Facility in White County Creating 200 Jobs

News Release from the Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development

SPARTA, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe and Hörmann, LLC officials announced today that the company will invest nearly $64 million to establish a manufacturing facility in Sparta.

Hörmann plans to create approximately 200 new jobs at the new operation in White County.

“We are constantly trying to attract world-class companies like Hörmann to Tennessee,” Haslam said. “Hörmann’s investment in White County underscores the confidence global businesses have in Tennessee’s skilled workforce and business-friendly environment. I’d like to thank Hörmann for creating 200 well-paying jobs in the Upper Cumberland and bringing us one step closer to making Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs.”

“Earlier this year, Governor Haslam and I met with Hörmann’s leadership team in Germany,” Rolfe said. “This fourth generation family-owned and operated business will be a fantastic partner and employer in the Upper Cumberland. White County residents have a strong legacy in advanced manufacturing, and the creation of about 200 skilled manufacturing jobs by Hörmann will have a tremendous impact on residents in the community.”

Headquartered in Germany, Hörmann is a leading manufacturer of building entry systems. Hörmann’s products cover a wide range of doors for residential and commercial applications. Founded in 1935, Hörmann is family-operated and serves customers in more than 60 countries.

“We are very proud to be welcomed to Sparta, Tennessee. We want to thank everybody involved, especially Governor Haslam, Commissioner Rolfe and County Executive Denny Wayne Robertson,” Christoph Hörmann, managing partner, Hörmann Group Companies, said. “They supported and encouraged us from the first moment we brought our project to them. We are very much looking forward to having the chance to contribute to the future growth of this region.

“We have learned that doing business in the United States is more than adapting products and marketing strategies – it is a matter of building relationships through respect, individualism, faith and courage. My family and I are looking forward to expanding our business further and becoming a strong partner in the Upper Cumberland to contribute to regional wealth,” Hörmann added.

“Having started as an engineer with Hörmann over a decade ago, I am one of the longest-serving Hörmann employees in North America,” Hörmann President Camron Rudd said. “As such, I have been fortunate to witness first-hand the company’s growth, and it has been an honor to contribute to the company’s success. Today, I am proud to serve as the company president, and I am very much looking forward to expanding our operations to Tennessee. I am convinced that White County and the Upper Cumberland is the best place for Hörmann LLC to be, and I look forward to many years of continued success in the Volunteer State.”

Plant construction is scheduled to begin in early 2018. The 350,000-square-foot facility is expected to be operational in mid-2019. Hörmann will produce residential and commercial sectional garage doors at the facility, serving customers across North America.

Local officials and the Tennessee Valley Authority applauded Hörmann for its investment in White County.

“We are extremely excited and pleased to welcome Hörmann to White County,” White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said. “This will bring more than 200 much-needed jobs to our community. White County is working hard to enhance our workforce and create opportunities. Companies like Hörmann are helping us build a bright future where our citizens can find high-quality jobs right here at home.”

“TVA and Caney Fork Electric Cooperative congratulate Hörmann on its exciting announcement to create 200 new jobs in White County,” TVA Senior Vice President of Economic Development John Bradley said. “We are pleased to work with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and White County to further TVA’s mission of service and help facilitate new jobs creation and prosperity in the community.”

Sparta and White County are represented by Sen. Paul Bailey (R – Sparta) and Rep. Paul Sherrell (R – Sparta) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
