Rep. Rush Bricken announces museum and historic site improvement grants in Coffee and Grundy counties

State Rep. Rush Bricken, R-Tullahoma, today announced more than $105,000 in state grant funding has been awarded to museums and historic sites in Coffee and Grundy counties for capital maintenance and improvement projects.

The Coffee County Historical Society received a $30,000 grant, the Tullahoma South Jackson Civic Association received $57,758, and the Grundy County Historical Society received $17,580. The funds are part of a $5 million appropriation approved by the General Assembly for the Tennessee State Museum in the 2024-25 state budget.

“The rich history and cultural heritage of Coffee and Grundy counties deserves to be preserved, and this important funding will certainly help in that endeavor,” Bricken said. “These organizations are dedicated to the noble task of helping residents learn about our past and stay engaged in our community. I’m grateful to the Tennessee State Museum for their work distributing these grants and I look forward to seeing the improvements when the projects are complete.”

The competitive grants are administered by the Tennessee State Museum to museums and historic sites across the state for accessibility improvements, window and roof repairs and replacements, foundation work, and HVAC and electrical projects.

Eighty-three museums across 46 counties received a Capital Maintenance and Improvement Grant this year. Since the program’s inception in 2023, museums in 68 counties have been awarded funds to help preserve Tennessee’s history.
