NASHVILLE, Tenn. — State Representative David Byrd (R-Waynesboro) and State Senator Joey Hensley (R-Hohenwald) said today that they have been informed by Secretary of State Tre Hargett that the Lewis County Archives will receive an archives development grant. The $2,900 award will cover the cost of folders, a book press, respirators and gloves to be used for the preservation, arrangement, and description of the county’s historical records.
“I appreciate Secretary Hargett and his staff for their investment in our community and our local archives,” said Representative Byrd. “This funding will help us better protect our important historical information and improve access to it so our citizens will always be able to learn about the important events that shaped the rich narrative here in Lewis County.”

David Byrd serves as Vice-Chairman of the House Education Instruction & Programs Committee.
