Speaker Beth Harwell appoints Dr. Ken Moore to Tennessee Local Development Authority

NASHVILLE – Speaker Beth Harwell (R-Nashville) announced today she has appointed Dr. Ken Moore, who also serves as the Mayor of Franklin, Tennessee, to the Tennessee Local Development Authority (TLDA). The TLDA is responsible for issuing bonds for local governments to provide funding for needed projects. These projects can include water, sewer, or solid waste facilities, capital projects, airport authorities, mental health facilities, and pollution control.

“I want to thank Dr. Moore for being willing to serve in this capacity,” said Speaker Harwell. “The TLDA is an important function of government that assists counties and municipalities with securing funding for needed projects. Dr. Moore’s experience as the Mayor of Franklin will serve this body well.”

Dr. Ken Moore is an active member of his community, and is the recipient of numerous honors related to both his work as a doctor and his service as Mayor of Franklin. He is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University, and the University Tennessee College of Medicine.

“It is an honor to serve the State in this capacity and to share my knowledge as an elected local leader in making decisions that benefit communities across the State with financing infrastructure projects,” said Dr. Moore.

More information about TLDA can be found here.

Beth Harwell serves as Speaker of the House, a position to which she was first unanimously elected in 2011. She is the first female Speaker of the House in Tennessee, and in the Southeast. Harwell represents part of Davidson County in the Tennessee General Assembly.
