Speaker Casada Names Representative Todd Vice-Chairman Of Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee

NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station) has named State Representative Chris Todd (R-Madison Co.) Vice-Chairman of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee. This is an honor rarely bestowed upon first-year lawmakers.

The 11-person committee will be responsible for all laws pertaining to energy, forestry, natural resources, conservation, game and fish, as well as mines and minerals. Additionally, members will oversee all environmental-related matters, parks and recreation, public lands, public and geological surveys, watershed districts, soil conservation issues, flood and drainage projects, military parks, battlefields, and tourism.

“We are fortunate to have an extremely gifted freshman class, and Representative Todd has already emerged as one of its leaders,” said Speaker Casada. “I am excited about the new energy and ideas he will bring to this important committee, and our General Assembly, and I have no doubt that he will be successful.”

“I am humbled that Speaker Casada has chosen me to serve as one of the leaders of the House Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee,” said Representative Todd. “Our agriculture industry is critical to Tennessee’s current and future economic success. Additionally, we must prioritize environmental issues in order to improve the quality of life for our citizens. I am eager to get to work and to address these legislative priorities in the days, weeks, and months ahead.”

Representative Todd was officially sworn in to office on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019.  He is currently the House Assistant Floor leader and will also serve as a member of the House State Committee, as well as the House Agriculture & Natural Resources and Corrections Subcommittees. Todd lives in Madison County and represents Tennessee House District 73, which includes most of Madison County.
