(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada (R-Thompson’s Station) has named State Representative Micah Van Huss (R-Johnson City) Chairman of the newly created House Constitutional Protections & Sentencing Subcommittee.
The House Constitutional Protections & Sentencing Subcommittee will be responsible for all legislation related to the Tennessee and U.S. Constitution. This will include any constitutional amendments, legislation pertaining to the 2nd Amendment rights of our law-abiding citizens, as well as sentencing.
“Representative Van Huss’s knowledge and experience on all matters related to these important issues make him the ideal person to lead the House Constitutional Protections & Sentencing Subcommittee,” said Speaker Casada. “I appreciate his willingness to serve in this important leadership role and as a member of our General Assembly, and I know Representative Van Huss and his committee colleagues will be successful.”
“Our founding documents have never been under assault like they are now,” said Representative Van Huss. “It is imperative that my generation fights to preserve the rights that have been given to us by God and passed on by our forefathers. I am humbled with this responsibility entrusted to me by Speaker Casada and am ready to fight for the freedoms of the citizens of Washington County and Tennessee.”
