Speaker Sexton Reappoints Representative Daniel To Chair Government Operations Committee

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R-Crossville) has reappointed State Representative Martin Daniel (R-Knoxville) to chair the House Government Operations Committee.

The 16-person committee is responsible for legislation concerning the creation of new departments, commissions, boards, agencies or councils of state government. It also manages the reauthorization of existing departments, commissions, boards, agencies, or councils of government. The committee oversees licensing and/or certification of occupational and/or professional licensing groups. Additionally, it reviews regulations proposed by Tennessee departments, commissions, boards or agencies.

“Representative Daniel has built strong partnerships with Tennessee’s local leaders, which will help us to continue to identify and create innovative solutions to better address the unique needs of all citizens,” said Speaker Sexton. “He is an effective leader of the House Government Operations Committee, and I appreciate his dedication and his continued service to Tennessee.”

“I am honored that Speaker Sexton has reappointed me to serve as Chairman of the House Government Operations Committee,” said Representative Daniel. “My colleagues and I have worked hard to make government more efficient and also enhance accountability. Together, we will continue to promote business friendly environments so our community and our state sustains its recent economic success.”

Representative Daniel will also serve on the House Calendar & Rules, House Insurance, and House Judiciary Committees, the House Constitutional Protections & Sentencing, and the Life & Health Insurance Subcommittees, as well as the Joint Fiscal Review, Judiciary & Government Subcommittee of Joint Government Operations Committee, Education, Health, and General Welfare Subcommittee of Joint Government Operations Committee, and the Joint Government Operations Committee, and the Joint Government Operations Commerce, Labor, Transportation, and Agriculture Subcommittee. Daniel represents Tennessee House District 18, which encompasses West Knoxville, including Cedar Bluff, West Hills, Deane Hill, Rocky Hill, Ridgedale, and Pleasant Ridge.
